Traditional industrial country in Lehen near Freiburg
The home of SCHNEIDER LEICHTBAU GmbH is an ancient cultural site. As long ago as 150 A.D., A GIAMILUS ran a flourishing pottery workshop here, supplying his goods throughout the widespread dominions of the former Roman Empire, as many finds have confirmed. Later, on around the same site, a brickworks grew up which supplied the town of Freiburg and the surrounding region with this valuable building material. It was in these very buildings that Josef Schneider founded a metal goods factory in 1957.

From the metal goods factory to the biggest producer of aluminum pallets
In 1962, the first aluminum containers were built for manufacturers of deep frozen products, marking the start of further developments for transport, logistics and storage devices. As early as 1968, the first aluminum pallets were produced. The former brickworks was transformed into a modern manufacturing location with a production area of around10,000 sq.m. equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities and processes.
