Innovation from SCHNEIDER LEICHTBAU:
The European Directive for Explosion Protection specifies that from July 1, 2003, all newly installed equipment is required to comply with the conditions set out by the Directive for Explosion Protection. Since June 30, 2006, not only new but all existing facilities must comply with the ATEX Directive. However, the manufacture and sale of EX-proof rechargeable batteries and electrical devices are only permitted by organizations able to prove certification in accordance with the Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Directive 94/9/EC. SCHNEIDER LEICHTBAU GmbH has succeeded in attaining this certification.
The SCHNEIDER product range includes pallet jacks and weigh-lift trucks, as well as lifting and tilting devices which in many instances need to be used also in zones with potentially explosive atmospheres. It is particularly in this type of environment that rechargeable storage batteries provide an indispensable source of energy for mobile equipment and devices.

Over a long period, the company SCHNEIDER LEICHTBAU GmbH based in Freiburg has been intensively involved in researching this area, and has now launched a new rechargeable battery which can be connected to all commonly used devices and is even compatible with older models. This was one of the underlying objectives in the development of the new rechargeable battery!
Almost every manufacturer of mobile weighing and lifting equipment uses a different storage battery model, few of which are ever compatible. With its new development, SCHNEIDER has found a lasting solution to this problem.
For all companies still using a weigh lift truck from a previous generation manufactured by BRUSS, for example, the new SCHNEIDER development is a stroke of luck: As rechargeable batteries are no longer made for this model, owners were facing the prospect that it could no longer be used for Ex zone work.
SCHNEIDER now offers a rechargeable battery which offers the BRUSS weigh lift truck a new lease of life, and is suitable not just for modern devices but also for “older generation” models.
The whole range of SCHNEIDER transportation, weighing, lifting, storage and conveying devices naturally complies with all applicable Ex protection and cleanroom-related requirements, and now includes the new SCHNEIDER RECHARGEABLE BATTERY as one of its major components.
The SCHNEIDER rechargeable battery SLB 12 with its many benefits:
• Not restricted to use with defined products
• In gas zones: For zones 1 / 2 and the highest gas and temperature category (T6)
• In dust zones: For zones 21 / 22 and the highest dust category (80°C)
• Optional voltage 12 V or 24 V
• Universally applicable with a range of different fixtures
• Low weight
• Carrying handle
• In lead gel batteries, the memory effect does not play a role!
The technical data:
• Rated voltage: DC 12 V or DC 24 V
• Lead gel batteries (Pb)
• Admissible discharge current: max 3A
• Ambient temperature -20º C to +30º C
• Weight: appr 11.8 kg
